The Ubuntu Group invests in ordinary shares, rights or interests (whether
described as Units, Shares or otherwise) and rights or options to subscribe
for any of the foregoing.
The Group invests in financial instruments issued by companies and the
government as a means of raising capital and borrowing money. The Group's most
commonly used financial securities are Ordinary Share , Stocks, Debentures,
Treasury Bills and Bonds. The security can later be sold and brought on either
the money-market (if for short term) or Stock Exchange (market).
The Ubuntu Group, as existing shareholders of certain securities, subscribes
for and / or purchases further securities in proportion to their holdings.
This is made by means of the issue of a renounceable letter or other
negotiable document which may be traded (as "nil paid" rights) before payment
for the securities is due.
Whereby The Group obtains the contractual right to buy a share in a company at
a predetermined price within a predetermined period.
An example of a share option is a right issue. Also, a company can grant a
share option to its workers as a means of improving their motivation and
loyalty to the company.
The Group engages in certain schemes or arrangements in the nature of a trust
in pursuance whereof members of the public are invited or permitted, as
beneficiaries under the trust, to acquire an interest or undivided shares
(Unit of Investment) in one or more groups or blocks of specified securities
and to participate proportionately in the income or profits derived there from.
